SELECT ROOM AND DEPARTURE:
The lighthouses along the coast of Norway are important landmarks and are popularly and justifiably known as “coastal cathedrals”. A night spent in a lighthouse is a memory for life. You will seldom be so close to nature, seldom find such breathtaking views and seldom experience such exciting histories.
Start your road trip in Karmøy and spend the night at the historical Høyevarde Lighthouse Hotel; a lighthouse station which opened in the year 1700 and has been an important landmark for sailors in the Karmsundet sound, formerly known “Nordvegen” – the way to the north.
Høyevarde Fyrhotell is located 1 ½ hour by car from Stavanger, 15 minutes by car from Haugesund airport and 20 minutes with car from Haugesund city centre.
Leave Karmøy the next day for the south coast of Norway, where you will receive a warm welcome at Rederiet Hotell in Farsund. The hotel building has a history dating back to the mid-1950s, when shipowner Andrew Glastad built his new office for the Mosvold shipping company in the contemporary functionalist style. The building was home to the shipping company until the end of the 1990s, when it was converted into a hotel.
It is a true adventure to pay a visit to Lista Lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in 1833 and is located on Ytre Listalandet, approximately a 15-20 minute drive from the hotel. The lighthouse tower is 34 metres high and you can climb to the top to enjoy the amazing views over the sea and imagine all the maritime adventures observed by the lighthouse keeper over the years.
The hotel packs a delightful picnic basket the next day at 11.00 for you to enjoy on the rocky beach. From Lista, you can continue your trip independently.
Rederiet Hotell is located in Farsund city centre , 90 km from Kristiansand and 220 km from Stavanger.
